JOB SUMMARY

ONEOK is looking for an Internal Corrosion Specialist that will focus primarily on maintaining existing programs and establishing new programs to mitigate internal pipeline corrosion. These programs will include control and mitigation of Microbiological, Acid Gas (CO2, H2S) and O2 corrosion constituents. This position will provide opportunities to develop budgets, track cost, write reports, and solve complex issues on a routine basis. ONEOK is looking for a highly motivated individual that has a work background and ability to communicate effectively with chemical vendors and pipeline service providers. The candidate should be self-directing, self-reliant, and have planning and scheduling capabilities.

Job Profile Summary
Provide guidance for the execution and maintenance of the internal corrosion control program to ensure compliance with regulations and company procedures. Provide technical leadership, training, and support to field personnel responsible for maintenance of tools and equipment, including test equipment, corrosion coupon installations, chemical injection pumps etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversee each reporting location's internal corrosion control activities including record keeping, vendor interactions and corrosion control maintenance.
  • Develop and implement internal corrosion control programs.
  • Provide technical guidance in developing corrosion and/or pipeline integrity project planning and budgeting.
  • Perform or assist in planning, material requisitions, contractor selection, documentation, and management of new projects and work orders.
  • Provide field project management of pipeline integrity projects, including: vendor training corrosion surveys, and recommended implementation, etc.
  • Ensure installations and/or pipeline integrity projects are in compliance with Pipeline Safety Regulations, NACE Standards, and Company procedures and standards.
  • Provide corrosion control training to operation supervisors and field personnel, including mentoring and/or verifying the qualifications of personnel to perform OQ covered tasks.
  • Conduct facility inspections, review records and report findings to appropriate management and departments.
  • Ensure that corrosion and pipeline integrity records are kept and maintained according to DOT requirements, Company standards, and department guidelines.
  • Prepare special reports that document and/or make recommendations regarding the results of pipeline integrity assessment activities, special projects, or surveys.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the company, and internal customers.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.
  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job-related experience.

Work Experience

  • 8 years experience with and knowledge of corrosion control, pipeline construction and maintenance.
  • Experience with internal corrosion control functions.
  • Experience in developing internal corrosion mitigation programs.
  • Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position, including a strong background in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access databases, RSTRENG, and other computer applications.
  • Experience and/or training related to: Evaluation and recommendation of corrosion control materials, equipment and procedures, Company and governmental standards and regulations, Analytical/problem solving skills, Resolve system deficiencies.
  • Experience reading and interpreting pipeline safety regulations, company operating procedures, engineering standards constructions standards, corrosion engineering publications, accounting manuals and company procedures.
  • Experience compiling and/or preparing various corrosion reports, pipeline safety regulations, analysis of company standards and practices, publications, manuals, company procedures, training materials, test results and findings, etc.
  • Experience interacting, directing, and communicating effectively.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to apply math and algebraic formulas.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently; project management experience.
  • Ability to conduct corrosion control training on cathodic protections design, record keeping, and corrosion control maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions.

Licenses and Certifications

  • NACE Certification.
