Role Overview

The Director of Sales-Select Service oversees sales and marketing operations for a Select Service hotel, aiming to maximize occupancy and ADR growth to increase revenue while meeting profit objectives. Responsibilities include managing the sales department, including direct sales, follow-up, sales administration, hiring, training, and coaching. The role also involves managing budgets, forecasts, advertising, marketing, and business plans for one hotel. Management-level associates are expected to work as necessary, including overtime for OEM associates.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree with 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree with 2 years of related experience.
  • Valid driver's license in applicable state.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiation and influence.
  • Professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Strong analytical and strategic skills for sales deployment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups and solve complex problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality principles.
  • Ability to work under stress and maintain composure.
  • Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate group, transient, and catering sales to maximize revenue.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, advertising, and marketing plans.
  • Conduct outside sales calls, tours, and entertain clients.
  • Negotiate contract terms.
  • Maintain market awareness and predict revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor top accounts and market trends.
  • Adhere to company regulations, standards, and metrics.
  • Achieve individual and team goals within budgets.
  • Train hotel staff on sales opportunities.
  • Develop knowledge of hotel operations.
  • Maintain visibility in the local community and industry groups.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Coordinate with marketing partners and internal departments.
  • Travel weekly as required.
  • Act on behalf of the General Manager in their absence and perform other duties as assigned.
