About The Role

SPM Oil & Gas currently has an opening for a Pump Mechanic. The Pump Mechanic I assembles, services, maintains, evaluates, repairs, and installs reciprocating plunger pumps to include but not limited to gear boxes, power end assemblies and fluid end assemblies.

Starting Pay: $27.10/Hour base pay with a $1.00 shift differential once moved to second shift. Can be adjusted with experience. Shift Hours: For roughly the first 90 days, the selected candidate will train on first shift with a schedule of 5:00am-5:00pm. Following training, the schedule will be 5:00pm-5:00am Monday through Friday. Potential for schedule to change based on business need. Additional opportunity for overtime and on-call periods to be required.

What You Will Do

• Effectively demonstrate the core values of SPM Oil & Gas
• Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance
• Exhibit and always advocate exemplary safety culture
• Clean, strip and inspect all required components
• Assist during the disassemble phase
• Prepare for detailed inspections
• Ability to comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Risk Assessments
• Utilize measuring equipment
• Dismantles pumps and other equipment as directed
• Hauls pumps and pump parts to and from machine and test shops
• Troubleshoots, disassembles, and performs a detailed evaluation to determine repair needs and root cause analysis for the following: TWS 2250, QWS 2500, TWS 600 short, TWS 600 standard, QWS 1000, QEM 3000, WS 335
• Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
• Utilize all PPE
• Perform other routine duties as requested

Top Candidates Will Have

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a clean driving record, which generally means: No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months. No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment
• Required to bring necessary tools to perform assigned tasks such as pneumatic tooling, hand tools and a storage box

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear
• Required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the department

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration
• Noise Level: Moderate

Summary Pay Range: $27.10 - $36.35 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
