Water Plant Operator D
Summary: Under close supervision, performs basic maintenance work in the operation of a City Wastewater (WW) Reclamation Plant; learns to monitor, inspect, maintain, and adjust equipment according to job specifications and Utilities Department technical standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Tools and equipment used in operation and maintenance of WW facilities. Methods, practices and standards for compliance to WW regulations. Principles and methods of maintenance of WW facilities. OSHA safety rules and regulations, and safety standards in utility plant environments.
Skill in: Monitoring WW plant operations, and identifying maintenance and safety issues. Reading and interpreting gauges and recording devices. Closely following verbal and written instructions, and operating safety procedures. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Effective verbal and written communication.
License and certification requirements: A Texas State Driver's License is required. Class D Wastewater license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is required within the specified timeframe prescribed by the department.
Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in Wastewater Reclamation Plant facility; required to perform moderate physical work; and lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Physical dexterity is required to work in confined spaces and use precision tools and equipment. Must be available to work on rotating shifts and must be available for 24-hour call. Work overtime is required. City approved safety shoes must be worn.
